final blog ever!!!! Hold Me Closer Necromancer Review

Overall, this book was pretty fantastically written!  Aside from the extreme weirdness of some of the events in the book, I really enjoyed it.  There is a quote on the front cover said by Sherman Alexie, "This is a SCARY funny book OR a FUNNY scary book.  In either case,it is a GREAT book. I LOVE IT."  That pretty much sums up how awesome this book is if Sherman Alexie's quote is on the front.
In more detail, I really liked how Sam develops as a character throughout the book.  I don't want to give too much away because i highly recommend reading this book, but he starts out as a college drop-out that is a fry cook at a restaurant.  He then discovers his true powers when a necromancer (can bring people up from the dead) named Douglas points out that Sam has the same power as well.  If you didn't notice, that is a pretty big change of events I would say, which gives this book its unique touch that keeps the reader glued to the book asking for more.  I'm pretty sure that there is a sequel that is coming out as well.  I cannot wait to read that!
My final blog is now complete.  I liked the assignment of blogging more and more as the year went on and hopefully my future teachers will assign some kind of homework that relates to blogging.  It really shows how technology gets involved in our lives and I would much rather blog than type a 5 page essay about some boring topic.  Thank you for assigning blogs this year, Mrs. Hayes, and have fun teaching wherever you're going next year!

Youtube is a perfect site for this book because if you want to check out all of the songs that are the titles of each chapter, this would be the place to go.

This is a pretty good book trailer for "Hold Me Closer, Necromancer."  It gives a quick introduction to the main character but doesn't give too much away.

This site is really cool because it shows that there will be a sequel to "Hold Me Closer, Necromancer!"  It is going to be called, "Necromancing the Stone."

4th qtr blog 4 book trailer

www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDS1CF2nzMo

This is a book trailer that shows a preview of the book in the beginning.  It sets the stage for a movie if they were ever going to make one.  I like how it has the background as Sam flipping a burger at his job because he was a college drop out which is essential to show the importance of his situation.  It has the two voices of Sam and his best friend Ramon which is cool because it makes it more like a realistic movie trailer.  I also liked how this trailer contains the exact words from the story which make it better as well.  Some of the other book trailers that i have seen for this book have been either poorly made or are just whats on the back of the book.  This one was really awesome and I would be so excited if they made a movie using the beginning of this book trailer!  Also, there is supposed to be a sequel and hopefully they make a cool book trailer for it!

In order to see this image chef picture for "Hold Me Closer, Necromancer" just highlight the second website and it should take you right to it.  I decided to use the outline of a skull for the words mosaic because of the fact that there is a lot of death, injury, gore, and violence in this book.  Whenever you would imagine what a cool high school book would be, this would be at the top of the list.  I also chose for the text inside of the skull outline to be red in order to enhance the meaning of death and gore.  Well at least I hope that I chose red because being color blind doesn't help!  But anyway, the words that I chose to include in the mosaic consisted of mostly character names, key words and phrases, and some important settings.

4th qtr blog 2 music connection

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSeNSzJ2-Jw&ob=av3e

To represent "Hold Me Closer, Necromancer" I chose the song "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" by Skrillex.  This is a different type of music called dub-step that doesn't contain many words but has really cool sound effects.  I chose this song because it starts out kind of slow, just like the book, but then gets crazy really fast.  I also chose this song because of its title.  There are many different kinds of scary monsters in this book, but there are also some nice ones.  The rythym of this song is perfect for the book and so is the song title itself.  Choosing a song for this book would have been a lot easier if I would have just gone the easy route in choosing one of the chapter titles as my song.  Something really cool and unique about this book is that each chapter title is the title of a song.  It is really cool whenever you get to chapter with song title that you recognize so that you already kind of know the mood of that chapter.  I wanted to choose a song that wasn't part of the book to make it a little bit harder.  That's why I chose the popular song by Skrillex.

4th qtr Blog 1 Reflection

I am also very happy this quarter, as I was last quarter, with my blog grades.  The grade that I recieved for 3rd quarter was another high A.  There is no better feeling than seeing your hard work pay off which has now happened twice and hopefully will happen one more time.  All that you have to do is put together quality posts that makes sense and you will meet all of the requirements, giving you a good grade.
Something that has suprised me was the fact that I have actually started to like the books that I have chosen off of the Read for a Lifetime list.  From the first book that I chose, I have been increasingly interested in each of the following 2 books.  This fourth and final book already looks super cool!
For the final quarter of my junior year I chose to read "Hold Me Closer, Necromancer" by Lish McBride.  So far it looks to be kind of a creepy book.  I don't really know how it is going to turn out but I like how it keeps you guessing even from the beginning.  I am looking forward to finishing this book as soon as possible so that I can figure out all of these mysteries.
